Spirit Week
⚠️ JDA Tip of the Week: Fighting, Retaliation & Student Safety

As we approach the end of the school year, we often see an increase in student conflicts and altercations. We want to partner with families to reinforce an important message:

🚫 It is never acceptable to put hands on another person.

We also want to clarify the difference between retaliation and self-defense:

✔ Self-defense = protecting yourself from immediate harm when you cannot safely get away
❌ Retaliation = continuing or escalating a fight when there was an opportunity to walk away, de-escalate, or seek help

Students who:
• encourage fights
• spread rumors or drama
• instigate problems
• record/post altercations
• or promote conflict online or in person

may also face disciplinary consequences.

Please help us reinforce:
✔ Walk away
✔ Get an adult
✔ Use words, not hands
✔ Avoid social media drama
✔ Report concerns early

We appreciate your partnership in helping us maintain a safe and respectful campus environment for all students during these final weeks of school.

Please refer to your email for full details.

JDA Purple Up Day
What was that? The JDA Sneak Peak was almost two weeks ago?! Yes! We can't stop talking about it!
On behalf of JDA staff we want to thank everyone who came and interacted with our school community. Our staff worked really hard to make this a purposeful and engaging night and it was all worth it because of you! Parents of future roadrunners we hope you felt welcomed and prepared for next year. If you weren't able to attend no worries we still have open house in a few months.

Any 5th graders looking for some middle school advice?

Our current 6th grade students at JDA got you covered!

On April 09, 2026 JDA had their annual Sneak Peak that was open to all incoming 6th graders and students transferring from other schools. The night was filled with performances by theatre arts, orchestra, choir, and band. While students were performing, families had the chance to visit the gym and inquire more about electives/clubs that are offered or take a self-guided tour. During this self-guided tour spread out through out the school were opportunities for future roadrunners to give their input/questions about the upcoming school year. One wall was a dedicated advice wall written by current 6th graders and shown here are a couple of examples!

Purple Up Day 2026 @ JDA!

What is Purple Up day? Glad you asked!
April 15 is national purple up day and wearing purple shows a visible symbol of support and appreciation for military-connected youth and the significant role they play in their families’ service.

Why purple? Purple represents the combination of colors associated with all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces:

Air Force – Blue
Army – Green
Navy – Blue
Marine Corps – Red
Coast Guard – Blue
When these colors come together, they form purple—a unified show of support for all military families.

Shown here are just a few gems in our school community that include students, teachers, aides, and administrative staff. On the far right corner of every picture is our military liaison Ms. Jennyfer Arriaza. If you are military family at JDA and are in need of further support feel free to contact the military liaison. On our school website under the parents & students tab you will find a page dedicated to resources as well.
