What began as a way to recognize former student-athletes at Audie Murphy Middle School has grown into something much bigger, a visual reminder to current students that hard work, character, and perseverance can create opportunities far beyond middle school.
The newly expanded “Falcon Hall of Fame” display inside Audie Murphy Middle School celebrates former Falcons who went on to become district champions, high school standouts, collegiate athletes, military leaders, and successful young adults in their chosen paths.
Created by former Audie Murphy coach Earl Dix, now at Robert M. Shoemaker High School, the wall honors students not just for athletic talent, but for the dedication and discipline that helped shape their futures.
“Middle school success stories matter because the foundation for future achievement starts long before high school,” Dix said. “This wall is about showing students what’s possible. A lot of these kids walked the same halls our current students walk every day.
“My hope is that it inspires every student who sees it to chase their goals and believe in what is possible, whether that is in athletics or in life.”
The display has already sparked strong reactions online and within the community, with former students, parents, and staff sharing stories about the impact coaches and mentors had on their lives during their middle school years.
For many students, seeing familiar names and faces on the wall makes future goals feel more attainable.
“This is more than a recognition wall,” said Audie Murphy administrators. “It’s motivation. It reminds students that the choices they make today can open doors tomorrow.”
The Falcon Hall of Fame continues to grow each year as more former students achieve success in athletics, academics, leadership, and service.
The project reflects a commitment to celebrating student growth at every level, not just at graduation.
“Sometimes the most important encouragement happens during the middle school years,” said district officials. “This display helps students see that their effort matters and that people believe in their future.”
